At one point the Facebook page said they had sold over 7000 tickets. That post has since been taken down, but if that was the actual number, WOW. Way too many people for the space. The plans they have laid out for next year's event seem logical, but some of the issues should have been anticipated when they saw the aggressive ticket sales.
I was one of the people who tried to just grab a bite, away from the line, to the stares, and sometimes angry comments of the "lemmings". The vendors thanked me when I darted up, purchased, and ran away !
We never did get beer or wine, the line was too long, and quite frankly, they could have used more of a selection. Well, there is always next year.

The reason that lines began to form was many cheese vendors were adamant about stamping the book so that you only got your one sample per person. People simply formed lines to get their sample and book stamped. If you noticed people formed lines to get their tickets, buy food from the trucks, and order beer or wine from the stand. Forming a line to get your sample of cheese isn't really a strange occurrence.

I think part of the problem lies with the layout. At a beer festival the lines are allowed to form in front of the booth. Most folks simply move to a booth with no line or the one with a short line. This venue did not allow for lines to form in front of each booth. Instead they were forced to run parallel to the booth. Which eventually mutated into a single line for everything.

I noticed that when people did grab samples by darting in the line most people standing in the line got very upset because they were waiting for their turn to get stamped and get their sample. A lack of easily identified staff did not help the situation.

As for the folks in line and not knowing where they were going or why...that is strange.
